VEKTREX Awarded Phase II SBIR Grant

Vektrex Electronic Systems, Inc. has been awarded a DOD grant to develop technology addressing obsolescence in aging automated test and measurement systems.  

Test instrument obsolescence is a major problem in many test and measurement systems built before 1995. In many of these systems, the instruments are reaching the end of their useful life and, consequently they are failing at increased rates. These increased failure rates impact system readiness and increase support costs.

In some instances these failing instruments are no longer supported by the original manufacturer, making them obsolete and un-maintainable. When this happens the test or measurement system must be upgraded with a new instrument. Traditionally, this upgrade involves an expensive modification of the system software to accommodate the new instrument.

The technology developed with this grant will allow obsolete instruments to be replaced without expensive systems software upgrades.
