Next Generation Current Source Senses Anomalies and Protects Devices

SpikeSafe 200 current source features high speed load fault protection

San Diego –  The SpikeSafe 200 produced by Vektrex breaks new ground today as the world’s first current source featuring precise digital control in pulsed and constant current modes, current sense and device protection, and scaleability from 1 channel to 256; 1A to 320A.  Optimized for applications where multiple optoelectronic devices are driven, the SpikeSafe 200 is an easy to use building block that will support R&D and design validation through production burn-in and life test.

SpikeSafe 200 current source integrates data acquisition, and precise pulse generation in one instrument that dramatically simplifies system design and integration reducing the overall system footprint.

SpikeSafe 200 sophisticated algorithms preserve devices.   Sense and detect algorithms rapidly detect load failures and anomalies before they occur shutting down current and preserving devices.  In many applications the cost to refit and/or replace destroyed devices exceeds the instrument cost.   On the fly ramping and current measurements shortens device test and “on” time thus reducing the risk of damaged components.   By preserving devices, the support nightmares caused by returned optoelectronic devices are virtually non-existent.

Ethernet control allows remote access and control of devices from desktop or home.

SpikeSafe200 provides scaleability.  Starter systems supporting as few as 8 channels of spikeprotected current may be expanded as operations and needs grow.

The SS200 has applications in applications where multiple optoelectronic devices are driven including OEM applications, LED and laser diode validation and production test, squib test, and solar array control and test.

The Spike Safe 200 based products are available today and may be purchased directly from Vektrex or any of our fine representative and distributors.   For more information, please visit us on the web at www.vektrex.com or call (858)558-8282.
