Overview

The Power Switch module is a fast-waveform, semiconductor power switch used in conjunction with standard programmable power sources to rigorously test avionics, telecommunications, and automotive equipment.

Background

Vektrex developed the APS1000 fast switch to support Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) avionics compliance testing against new provisions of MIL-STD-704. Northrop Grumman replaced existing obsolete power test equipment with the APS1000 and successfully testing JSF radios. Recently, the APS1000 has been upgraded to support SBC-76200 compliance testing.

Applications

The APS1000 can be used in conjunction with standard programmable power sources to rigorously test avionics, telecommunications, and automotive equipment.   The APSM supports transient compliance testing switching cleanly between two power sources, providing rise times in the 100nS range, while at the same time eliminating spikes and transients caused by parasitic effects.  The fast edges support compliance testing against new standards and allow discovery of
