Overview

Optimized for LED environmental and production test, the SpikeSafe 150 precision current source provides eight channels of spike protected, reliable, efficient DC drive current. High-speed protection circuitry senses and prevents induced LED failures. On-board data acquisition system provides real-time monitoring for each channel enabling capture of reliability and audit trail data. Efficient design enables realization of substantial energy savings eliminating the need for waterbased cooling. Board, unit, module, and system configurations available.

Ethernet-based Monitoring Capability

To control and monitor eight channels, the SpikeSafe 150 includes an on-board embedded computer and data acquisition system providing fast, reliable access to dozens of analog and digital I/O points. Ethernet connection also allows remote monitoring from any enabled network. This arrangement greatly simplifies the system control, eliminating costly, problem prone analog control wiring.

Spike Protection Preserves Reliability Data

When LEDs fail, the instantaneous forward voltage, Vf, changes. This change can cause current through the device and others in the same series circuit to spike upward, often destroying the faulty device and others in the circuit. Spike damage can skew reliability data and eliminate the ability to do failure analysis on faulty devices. Vektrex’s unique SpikeSafe protection circuitry eliminates current spikes by shutting down drive at the early onset of a failure. This rapid shutdown prevents secondary failures. In many cases the faulty LED is also preserved in working condition.
