Overview

Vektrex’s SpikeSafe high power LED stress systems provide source drive current, thermal control and data management for high-volume LED test applications. With up to 5A drive current per channel and 200V compliance, and up to 256 channels per rack, these systems are capable of driving thousands of LEDs in series circuits. Applications include longterm reliability testing, production burn-in, and thermal stress testing.

SpikeSafe Protection Eliminates Current Spike Failures

When LEDs fail, the instantaneous forward voltage, Vf, changes. This change can cause current through the device and others in the same series circuit to spike upward, often destroying the faulty device and others in the circuit. Spike damage can skew reliability data and eliminate the ability to do failure analysis on faulty devices. Vektrex’s unique SpikeSafe protection circuitry eliminates current spikes by shutting down drive at the early onset of a failure. This rapid shutdown prevents secondary failures. In many cases the faulty LED is also preserved in working condition.

High Efficiency Lowers Electricity Costs

The Vektrex SpikeSafe systems convert roughly 90% of input power to LED drive power. This high efficiency eliminates the need for expensive water-cooling and it reduces your electricity costs.
