Vektrex implemented a turn-key, low-speed, precision temperature monitoring system for a laser table. The system is designed to capture small temperature transitions that can cause the laser table to warp, adversely affecting the laser. The system accommodates hundreds of thermal sensors, and provides for their calibration, to ensure accurate, repeatable measurements.

Expertise Used

National Instruments LabVIEW software, a National Instruments SCXI chassis and signal conditioning cards, and a PC-based National Instruments multifunction data acquisition card provide the basis for the solution.

Additional Information

The Vektrex Metamorphosis™ Development process maintained schedule integrity. Software engineers adopted a modular solution, then designed the data interfaces between these modules first. This provided the engineers a known and comfortable environment in which to develop their modules. Since the modules run asynchronously in a separate threads, engineers were able to code, test, and debug the modules in parallel and independently, with "real" data.
