Assembly Test System Controller

Vektrex designed, built, and integrated a test system that controls the production of IC-handler component assemblies. These assemblies contain motors, actuators, pneumatic devices and precision machined parts. The test system, based upon National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand software tools, controls the assemblies under test using a client-proprietary protocol. Vektrex created custom ActiveX components using Microsoft Visual Basic, to handle the protocol. The test system tracks assemblies via bar code, and deposits test results into the manufacturer’s management information system. The manufacturer is deploying the test systems on the factory floor and at several contract manufacturer sites.

Additional Information

This project exemplifies Vektrex's ability to successfully integrate expertise from several disciplines. The Vektrex Metamorphosis™ process kept the project on track, despite an aggressive schedule. Client in-house software engineers also contributed to the project. Vektrex provided these engineers mentoring and training in National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand software tools respectively.
