Serial Interface Adapter                                        

Vektrex designed, constructed, and delivered a custom, high-speed serial interface adapter. The adapter converts 32 bit parallel digital words into serial and 8-bit streams at rates up to 200 MHz. This unit connects to a popular VXI digital test subsystem, giving the subsystem high performance output capability in a variety of logic families including LVDS.

Additional Information

This project exemplifies Vektrex's ability to apply state-of-the-art technology to measurement challenges. Utilizing the Altera Apex FPGAs allowed Vektrex to reduce board density without sacrificing circuit flexibility. The serial interface adapter is based on Altera's Apex logic family. It was the first Apex high-speed LVDS design in San Diego.
