Many LEDs properties, such as luminous flux output, are strongly temperature-dependent. Early LED testing standards accommodated this temperature dependence with crude techniques, such as long stabilization periods. As LED power and performance increased though, the errors and uncertainty associated with these techniques became significant. For further innovation and to progress the industry, improvements in light measurements are necessary. To address this, the industry has produced or revised a number of new LED testing standards; processes and procedures to increase LED measurement reproducibility.

Microsecond Rise Times and Minimized Jitter
Vektrex current sources utilize active load and cable compensation; they can deliver accurate pulses over cables as long as 5 meters. In addition, on-the-fly pulse width adjustment circuitry compensates out analog delays, improving overall pulse timing accuracy.

These models include all of the features of DC/pulsing models and add specialized current modes, dynamic current changes and synchronized triggering. Additional options such as modulated DC current output, and bias current options support temperature at the junction (Tj), thermal modelling and non-DC waveform testing.
