The IES LM-80-23 standard, developed by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) is a method for measuring and reporting the lumen maintenance (luminous flux over time) and color shift of LED packages, arrays, and modules. It’s a crucial standard for ensuring the long-term performance and reliability of LED lighting products.
Vektrex offers the only LM-80 test solution on the market combining the ability to test in both constant current and pulsed/PWM operating modes. By offering two operating modes, the LM-80 solution offers increased efficiency allowing long terms tests to meet LM-80-23 requirements and allow test designers to perfectly duplicate SSL end users Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) parameters gathering data that matches real-world lighting performance. Data produced on the same system in two operating modes may be compared to determine if Pulsed / PWM mode accelerates failures.
Vektrex’s configurable LM-80 solution is based upon the patented SpikeSafe Series current sources that supply a wide range of drive currents and voltages. Typical pulsed current sources lack the power to support the high currents and duty cycles required for this generation’s high power SSL needs. Vektrex current sources support high peak and continuous power levels, so test designers can choose any duty cycle from 0-100%. The SpikeSafe drives current, DC and PWM mode, accurately to the ends of the long (40’) drive cables typically found in reliability labs. Vektrex LM-80 solution and SpikeSafe current sources are the gold standard for LM-80, Reliability and Burn-in test source channels.
