Instrument Integration With A/B Switch Function

The A/B switch function enables secondary instruments to share existing load wiring and be selectively switched into the measurement path as needed.

According to Vektrex CTO, “Many test systems rely on specialized instrumentation for ultra-low current and reverse-voltage measurements. While these measurements are important, they typically represent only a small portion of the overall test process. With a wide variety of specialized instruments already deployed in production environments, the A/B switching capability simplifies integration and system upgrades while enabling higher current operation, faster pulsing, and improved measurement performance.”

With this setup, one can achieve the best of both worlds. The Vektrex SMU provides high power, fast pulses and improved measurements; while other instruments provide low current, low voltage, and current leakage measurements.

The Force Sense Selector Switch is a true mechanical switch integrated in the Vektrex SMU, as opposed to solid state or software switch found in other devices. For existing systems, it is possible to integrate this feature to an existing SMU all while retaining the existing software and load wiring.
